Case for wrongful death of Grace Schara will go to trial

APPLETON, Wis–A November 2024 trial date is set in a high-profile wrongful death lawsuit. Outagamie County Judge Mark McGinnis will set aside three weeks for testimony in the case of the family of Grace Schara and Ascension Health.

Schara died from COVID-19 at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in October of 2021. Her family claims doctors gave her a lethal combination of drugs and failed to provide additional care when she went into cardiac arrest, aruguing the family had signed a “do not resuscitate” order.

The Scharas have leased dozens of billboards across Wisconsin promoting their case. The attorney for the family has two weeks to file an amended complaint–addressing some legal issues with the first filing. The Scharas are seeking unspecified damages.
