Damar Hamlin collapses on the football field

Twenty-four year old Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed on the football field after taking a hit to his chest.  He suffered cardiac arrest, meaning, his heart stopped.  Technically, Damar Hamlin died on the field.  CPR was administered, and he was revived.  He was then rushed to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.  Damar Hamlin’s heart stopped again at the hospital, and he was resuscitated again.

At the hospital, it was determined that Damar Hamlin had suffered damage to his lungs.  As of January 3, Damar Hamlin was sedated and on a ventilator because he was not yet ready to breathe on his own.

Damar Hamlin joins the list of athletes who have collapsed on the field.  What we do not know for sure is the exact cause of his collapse.  Many people have suggested that Damar Hamlin’s collapse was caused by the COVID-19 jabs, but this is speculation.  Given the injury to the lungs, the jabs are more than likely not the cause of collapse in this event.

Here is what we know:

  • Damar Hamlin took a hit to the chest.
  • A hit to the chest can cause collapse.
  • It is reported that Damar Hamlin’s lungs suffered damage.
  • Most athletes have taken the jabs.
  • The number of athletes collapsing on the field has skyrocketed since the jabs began.
  • Athletes collapsed on the field prior to the jabs, though it was rare.

Damar Hamlin can be added to the list of athletes who have collapsed on the field since the jabs began.  Cause does not determine who is on that list.  However, it appears that the jabs may not have caused Damar Hamlin’s collapse.

All the same, the huge increase in the number of athletes collapsing on the field since the jabs began is alarming.  While it is likely true that the upward trend is caused by the jabs, each individual case must be evaluated on its own merits.

Friends, be careful not to rush to judgment in incidents like these.  The thoughts of many jumped to the jabs as the cause of this incident; but in this case, the collapse appears to be the result of injury.  Misinformation is a problem no matter who it comes from.  Try to determine if there are facts to back up your assumptions.  It is OK to speculate and ask questions, but make sure that you properly identify such statements as speculation.  Take care in how you share such conversations with others so as not to mischaracterize them as fact when the facts are not known.
