They were assessing “gain-of-function” studies. Some call this “chimeric research” because it involves the mixing of DNA from various species.

According to Marc Lipsitch, and Thomas Inglesby:

The purpose of this research funding pause is to complete “a robust and broad deliberative process … that results in the adoption of a new [U.S. Government] gain-of-function research policy.” The moratorium would stop new funding for the following:

… research projects that may be reasonably anticipated to confer attributes to influenza, MERS, or SARS viruses such that the virus would have enhanced pathogenicity and/or transmissibility in mammals via the respiratory route. The research funding pause would not apply to characterization or testing of naturally occurring influenza, MERS, and SARS viruses, unless the tests are reasonably anticipated to increase transmissibility and/or pathogenicity.

The new U.S. Government (USG) policy also encourages the currently funded U.S. Government and nongovernment research community to join in adopting a voluntary pause on research that meets this gain-of-function definition. Some 18 NIH research projects that possibly meet that definition have been identified. The moratorium does not apply to the larger infectious disease research portfolio supported by the U.S. Government. In particular, it does not affect disease surveillance or vaccine development programs.

So which is it? It looks like there’s a loophole.

Sometime in 2015, most likely:

Someone at the NIH approved money to be used for research at the Wuhan lab. The timing would suggest that this was done to skirt the 2014 congressional moratorium on gain of function research.

For the last year and a half, questions have been raised about how and why EcoHealth Alliance provided the WIV with U.S. taxpayer dollars. Those funds were provided to EcoHealth Alliance in the form of grants from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In this interview, Peter Daszak shares his background and how he works.

At 8:35, the talk turns toward funding.  At 8:55, Vincent Racaniello asks, “How do you pay for all this?”  Peter Daszak talks about his history with the wildlife conservation charity.  He found it easier to get funding when he tied his work to health.  He finds that health is a better motivator overall.

Beginning at 11:13:

We get money from foundations. We get money from private sector. So one of the things we’ve been trying to do is we work a lot on the underlying causes of pandemics—deforestation, climate change, wildlife hunting. That’s our conservation side as well. So we go to foundations and say, “Look, you’ve been trying to stop the wildlife trade in China for 20 years. You put all this money into it. If you have a health angle to that, it really does work. The markets, the wildlife markets in China were never closed down because of, you know, ethical concerns. But the minute SARS emerged, they closed them down. So that’s the argument we use, and we’re trying to put the health in conservation.

In other words, Peter Daszak’s primary motivation is conservation.  He sees health as an effective motivator to get governments to act on conservation issues.

EcoHealth Alliance headquarters are in New York.  At that office, there are people doing economic modeling, analytics, and gene sequence crunching.  The labs are all around the world.  On the relationship with labs, beginning at 12:07:

Usually, we subcontract to labs, but we usually try and have in every country a country Program Officer who manages the work we do in that country and sometimes regional. And we often hire technicians in labs or PhD students, you know, to have a have a presence in the lab. There’s more of a buy-in when you’ve got a person.

EcoHealth Alliance is in 30 countries.  Peter Daszak is in charge of China and Malaysia.

At the 28:10 mark of the podcast interview with Vincent Racaniello, Peter Daszak states that researchers found that SARS likely originated from bats and then set out to find more SARS-related coronaviruses, eventually finding over 100. He observed that some coronaviruses can “get into human cells in the lab,” and others can cause SARS disease in “humanized mouse models.”

Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance had previously been named Wildlife Trust because it is easier to get funding for health.  80% of his funding comes from government.

Given Peter Daszak’s comments about tying health to conservation issues to get results, we could later find that key players try to tie the pandemic to climate change initiatives.

The Obama-Biden Administration reportedly gave $3.7 million to the Chinese lab in Wuhan that is the subject of the investigation into the origin of the coronavirus.

President Trump says he is looking at it and “we will end that grant very quickly.”

Back in 2015, when Barack Obama was president, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sent a $3.7 million grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a lab that grew coronaviruses and injected them into animals.

During his coronavirus press conference on Friday, President Donald Trump pledged to stop the funding.

Newsmax reporter Emerald Robinson questioned Trump about an NIH grant of $3.7 million to the Wuhan virology lab, in the course of the Obama administration in 2015.

“The Obama administration gave them a grant of $3.7 million, I’ve been hearing about that, and we’ve instructed that if any grant going to that area — we’re looking at it, literally, about an hour ago — and also early in the morning, we will end that grant very quickly,” Trump said.

“But it was granted quite a while ago. They were granted quite a substantial amount of money.”

“We’ve instructed that if any grants are likely to that location, we are seeking at it literally an hour back, and also early in the morning, we will conclusion that grant very promptly,” Trump said.

He included, “Who was president then, I marvel?”

Judy Mikovits is among her generation’s most accomplished scientists. She joined NIH in 1980 as a Postdoctoral Scholar in Molecular Virology at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Mikovits began a 20-year collaboration with Frank Ruscetti, a pioneer in the field of human retro virology. She helped Dr Russetti isolate the HIV virus + link it to #AIDS in 1983. Her NIH boss Anthony Fauci delayed publication of that critical paper for 6 months to let his protégé Robert Gallo replicate, publish and claim credit. The delay in mass HIV testing let AIDS further spread around the globe + helped Fauci win promotion to director NIAID.

In 2006, Dr Mikovits became director of Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease + collaborated with Dr Ruscetti searching for the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which suddenly became epidemic in the 1980s. The male dominated medical community dismissed CFS as psychosomatic “yuppie flu” caused when fragile females cracked in corporate jobs.

Dr. Mikovits discovered that 67% of affected women carried a virus—called Xenotropic Murine Leukemia related Virus—that appeared in healthy women only 4% of the time.

XMRV is also associated with prostate, breast, ovarian cancers, leukemia, and multiple myeloma. Many women with XMRV bore children with autism.

In 2009, Drs. Mikovits and Ruscetti published their explosive findings in the journal Science. But the question remained: How was XMRV getting into people?

Other researchers linked the first CFS outbreak to a polio vaccine given to doctors and nurses that resulted in the “1934 Los Angeles County Hospital Epidemic.” That vaccine was cultivated on pulverized mouse brains. Retroviruses from dead animals can survive in cell lines and permanently contaminate vaccines.

Dr Mikovits’ studies suggested that the XMRV Virus was present in the MMR, Polio + Encephalitis vaccines given to American children + soldiers.

Dr Fauci ordered Mikovits to keep her mouth shut. When she refused, he illegally confiscated her work books and hard drives, drove her from government work + blackballed her from receiving NIH grants ending her science career. XMRV remains in American vaccines.

NIH upgrades recommendation on ivermectin, making it an acceptable option for use in COVID-19 https://pandemictimeline.com/2021/01/nih-upgrades-recommendation-on-ivermectin-making-it-an-acceptable-option-for-use-in-covid-19/ Thu, 14 Jan 2021 00:00:27 +0000 https://pandemictimeline.com/?p=713 This new designation upgraded the status of ivermectin from “against” to “neither for nor against”, which is the same recommendation given to monoclonal antibodies and convalescent plasma, both widely used across the nation. — Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), January 15, 2021 So that paragraph on the NIH page now reads: There is…

This new designation upgraded the status of ivermectin from “against” to “neither for nor against”, which is the same recommendation given to monoclonal antibodies and convalescent plasma, both widely used across the nation.

— Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), January 15, 2021

So that paragraph on the NIH page now reads:

There is insufficient evidence for the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.

— “Ivermectin,” NIH

The recommendation was revised based on data presented by the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC).  At least now, the NIH does not recommend against ivermectin.  Your physician should now be able to prescribe ivermectin for COVID-19 based on the FDA off-label policy without risk of losing their hospital privileges or license.  Just hand them the NIH report, perhaps with the press release and the FDA off-label policy.

For the fact checkers out there:  “No evidence” is not the same as “insufficient evidence.”  There is evidence.  If there was no evidence, the NIH would not have felt compelled to upgrade their recommendation on ivermectin based on what FLCCC members presented, considering that the politically preferred jabs were about to be granted Emergency Use Authorizations.  There was no way the NIH would have come out “for” ivermectin or say that there was “sufficient evidence” for its use.  That could have derailed the EUAs, and so would have been politically taboo at the time.
